Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
Make a difference in the life of a child for around $1 per day!!
Become a sponsor for a child in need. Compassion sponsorship packets are available at the Ministry Center. These are children that have been waiting for a very long time to have a sponsor, and many are from areas with extreme poverty, high AIDS populations and high instances of child exploitation. Your sponsorship provides these children with education, clothing, hygiene supplies, and most importantly, JESUS!!
Our mission as an orphan ministry is to bring together a diverse group of people with the common desire to serve the foster and waiting children in our community and worldwide. We want to attend to the fatherless by raising awareness of their current needs, providing support to families of adopted and foster children, committing to pray for them, and connecting these children and families to the life and love of Christ.
We are primarily focused on these four areas:
One goal of this ministry is to raise awareness regarding the need for families in our area to serve as foster and adoptive parents to children locally and internationally. There are more than 160 million children who have lost at least one parent in the world today. There are more than 17 million who have lost both parents. There are 2.3 billion Christians and 80% of the Christian wealth is in the United States. In South Carolina alone, there are 4,485 children in foster care. More than a 600 of those children are legally free and are waiting for families to adopt them.
There are a number of families currently at Second Baptist who have adopted or currently foster children or are pursuing adoption and foster care. This ministry will provide support for these families as well as education to deal with the unique nature of foster care and adoption.
As part of this ministry, we will be praying for these families and the children who are currently awaiting adoption or are in foster care.
Connecting Locally & Globally
There are many families in our community with foster and adopted children who are not connected to a local church. Through various events, we would like to reach out to those families and connect them to the life of Second Baptist.
A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, Is God in His holy habitation. God sets the solitary in families; He brings out those who are bound.
